Artist Statement

“Paint on canvas has always intrigued me. I find such a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment
in taking a flat, blank surface and making it appear dimensional and alive. I also enjoy painting and
creating with alternate surfaces and forms such as scratch board, book arts, and wood. The pure
honesty of expression achieved by Vincent Van Gogh is something I try to emulate. I strive for this
portrayal in my paintings, whether in oil, acrylic or watercolor, with color, rhythm, beauty and contrast.

My intention is that my paintings of landscapes and organic forms make these
elements work together to tell a story and leave the viewer with a sense of peace.”
